Me and my Painted PigPosted by Nicole (Komono, Japan) on 25 May 2008 in People & Portrait and Portfolio. Still from the day of the pottery festival in Yokkaichi. At the festival you were given the opportunity to paint a cup - a plate or a pig. So I went for the pig of course - no brainer. So I'm sure you must be wondering why a ceramic pig would fall into the options besides the logically usefully plate and cup - well besides as an obvious diversion for people not inclined towards the logically useful such as myself - the ceramic pig actually does serve a purpose in japan that it does not in the USofA . When the mosquitoes come back to life in the summer (an the bump on my knee proves that they don't even necessarily have to wait that long) the ceramic pig becomes the holder for mosquito coils. This blog http://chu-hi.livejournal.com/tag/katoributa has a nice little explanation if you want to take a look. My pig should be arriving in about 1 week or so! woot woot! Prints are now available for purchase!! I am in the process of uploading photos to the above site to be available for purchase. If there is any specific image that you would like to become available, please feel free to contact me. Thank you for stopping by!
