Hirai san

Posted by Nicole (Komono, Japan) on 23 January 2008 in People & Portrait and Portfolio.

It's funny how sometimes when you look back at your pictures you realize that the first picture you have of a friend occurred in the middle of a random group of people, or in a situation where you were just taking a picture of the person in front of you without knowing who they really were. This is the first photo I have of Hirai-san. A ways back I tagged along to a barbecue party being held by people I had never met. Out of a group of about 7 people or so, Hirai-san has had me over to her house to make mochi, has snuck off with me during and after school where we both work to go water a garden, twist harvested rice stalks into ropes, have lunch or play badminton. Obviously never turn down an invite when in a new place, you have no idea who you might end up meeting.
